Vijana Tugutuke - Siaya County January to June 2017

Vijana Tugutuke project provided gender-responsive interventions that addressed needs of young people and also built the capacity of key stakeholders to challenge harmful sociolect-cultural norms related to gender and sexuality with an aim of Contributing to increased access to comprehensive ASRH information and services to 476 young people and adolescents in Ugenya sub county, Siaya County.The project also addressed the relationship of mental health and with lack of employment and sources of income being a major contributor. At the end of the project

  • 13 Youth Savings and Loaning Associations (YSLA) formed and registered to enhance savings and loaning among young people out of school
  • 2 YSLA groups linked to Siaya County Affirmative Action Fund and received car wash machines and an IGA
  • 1safe space supported in Sega Health Centre to facilitate health talks on SRHR, mental health and SGBV among young people.
